Please, consider supporting the victims that lost everything after the flash floods. We can make their lives a bit better by donating. Even a small contribution can make a big difference!!

Two weeks have passed since the flash floods destroyed many lives and entire towns in Valencia County. Towns located just a few minutes drive from where Guillermo was born and lived for 45 years. Places where Guillermo had been hundreds of times and where his friends and family live. Fortunately, all of them are fine, other than lost cars, damaged properties or being surrounded by horror and chaos. But many, many other families have lost everything.

The floods in numbers:
  • More than 200 dead people, plus dozens missing and not found yet.
  • 79 towns and cities affected, 16 of them devastated, on a highly populated area (over 500,000 people)
  • 100,000+ cars affected, many fully destroyed.
  • 4,000 buildings affected.
  • 500km of roads and 30km of rail affected.
  • Thousands of companies affected (many jobs at risk)
  • Hundreds of farms fully flooded, all crops gone.
  • 500 l/m2 (one year’s rain) in 8 hours.

This (hard to watch) video was recorded in Alfafar, where my cousin Carlos lives, 6 days after the floods and after thousands of volunteers had already helped a lot. All cars gone, houses and shops on the ground floor completely devastated:

The emergency works will take months. The full recover will take years. The impact that this tragedy has caused to thousands of families is terrible, both psychological and financial.

We can make their lives a bit better by donating. Even a small contribution can make a big difference!!
For those who would like to donate online, the Spanish Red Cross set a webpage for this:

Sharing this info can also be of great help for those people.

THANKS A MILLION!!

Guillermo Alonso
